wobabybasics’ clothing celebrates the body of your baby; the child itself, his needs and the movements that are so typcial to the young body are the basis for all our designs. Our comfortable and durable clothes do not inhibit your child’s high energy play and creative explorations.

Your baby’s development is determined partly by genes and temperament but there’s a lot you can do to help him along the way. At wobabybasics, we acknowledge this and are developing unique early childhood development programs with our partners.

Your environment is the only one you have. We reduce our ecological footprint by considering the entire life cycle of our organic cotton fabrics and yak yarn, using 100% recycled paper for printed material, distributing reuseable shopping bags, developing enivronmental programs with local organizations, and supporting initiatives that help reduce the carbon dioxide we produce in running our business.

We believe that babies have minimal needs and they only need some basic baby items, often called a layette. To reduce consumer consumption, our collection focuses on layette baby items that are practical, stylish, low-maintenance, durable and (often) multi-functional.

wobabybasics’ unique Hand-Me-Down Program has been developed to reduce landfills by reusing baby clothing. We invite our clients to exchange wobabybasics’ items that have been fully used or outgrown for a discount on their next purchase. Returned products will be donated to local charities or properly recycled.

Your community is important and wobabybasics believes in giving back to the communities we live in and buy our materials from. Our commitment is to give part of our profits to a variety of action-oriented charities, especially those that are focused on children and families. This is from OUR profits; we do not mark-up our products to cover this.

Our products are made ethically in China and we strive to use only ethically-made fabrics. All our raw materials are made in mills that respect fair labour practices that include proper working conditions, wages, bonuses and vacations for workers — no sweat shops allowed.

Our knitwear are made from yak down sourced from a cooperative in the mountainous Himalayan regions of Western China. Each garment is lovingly handknitted by a women’s cooperative in Northeast China, working in self-managed groups and making decisions as a democracy. This fair trade production method creates self-esteem and strengthens communities.
