Women's Economic Self-Sufficiency Program assists low-to-moderate
income women in starting a micro business and generating income for
their families. The program supports participants in starting small,

Georgia SBDC Network is headquartered at the University of Georgia
campus in Athens, and through partnerships with nine other universities

education opportunities to Georgia’s entrepreneurs. In 2004, our
consultants assisted 5,655 business clients with a variety of

WEDA program is geared for individuals who are planning, expanding or
strengthening a business. It is a 21-seminar series session for women
business owners, 2 1/2 hours each week. This program was condensed in
1995 to a 5-hour program. WEDA also provides mentoring and one-on-one
counseling. The majority of clients are African-American women,
however, it is open to all individuals, including men. Topics covered
in the training program include marketing, business planning,
accounting and finance, contract negotiation, and domestic and
international procurement.
